Chasing Light, Connection, and Adventure

If you've followed my work for any length of time, you've probably noticed one thing...

I absolutely love the beach.

As much as I love creating timeless newborn portraits in my studio, there's something about photographing families along the Maine coastline that fills my creative cup in a completely different way.

Golden hour has always been my favorite time to photograph because the light is constantly changing. Every session tells a different story.

We begin with brighter, more vibrant light that brings energy to your gallery. As the sun lowers, the light softens into the warm golden glow everyone loves. Then, just before sunset, the sky often transforms into beautiful pastel colors, creating a completely different feeling than when we started.

I love every stage of it.

One of my favorite techniques is backlighting—placing the sun behind my families to create soft, glowing images full of warmth and emotion. The beach gives us endless opportunities to play with light, movement, and genuine connection, making every gallery unique.

Why the Beach Feels Like Home

There is something magical about watching children explore the shoreline, parents slowing down for an evening together, and families simply enjoying each other's company.

The beach encourages everyone to relax.

Kids can run barefoot through the sand.

Parents can laugh instead of worrying about perfect poses.

Some of my favorite photographs are the ones that happen in between—the little moments you didn't even realize were happening.

Those are the memories I love preserving.

A New Adventure Through Airbnb Experiences

This year, I partnered with Airbnb Experiences to offer golden hour family photography sessions to visitors exploring Southern Maine.

So far I've had the opportunity to photograph a couple of wonderful families visiting our beautiful coastline, and I already have more sessions on my calendar. It has been such a rewarding experience meeting people from different places and helping them preserve a piece of their vacation.

Looking Toward the Future

Working with traveling families has made me realize something about myself.

I don't just love photographing families.

I love photographing adventures.

One of my biggest dreams is to become the photographer families think of when they want to document an experience they'll never forget. Maybe that's a vacation on the Maine coast, a surprise proposal, a family reunion, an anniversary trip, or another adventure somewhere beyond Maine. (I have a passport and love flying or cruising)

Photography has given me the opportunity to meet incredible people, and I hope one day it takes me to even more beautiful places.
