About Me

My name is Megan Smith, and I am a married mom of a teenage son and a toddler daughter, living in the picturesque town of Scarborough, Maine. Photography has been a lifelong passion, but my journey truly began five years ago when I picked up my first Nikon DSLR. Initially, I was simply looking to enhance the visuals for my massage therapy business, but what started as a creative side project quickly became an all-consuming passion.

With the arrival of my daughter, I dove deep into professional portrait photography, teaching myself everything I could about the art of capturing raw, fleeting moments. My style is bold and deeply emotional—often considered fine art—where light, movement, and expression come together to tell a story beyond the frame. I don’t just take photos; I strive to create visual narratives that resonate with soul and feeling.

This past September, I took a huge step in my photography journey and upgraded to the Sony A7 IV—a camera I am absolutely in love with. Now, my focus is on expanding my lens collection to further refine my craft. Alongside photography, I’m getting serious about videography this year, exploring new ways to bring stories to life through motion and sound.

Beyond technical skills, my ultimate goal is to use photography as a tool for healing. I understand how vulnerable it can feel to be in front of a camera, and I want to help people see their own beauty and worth. Whether through a portrait, a fleeting candid moment, or an evocative fine art image, I want my work to empower and transform the way people see themselves.

Everyone deserves to be seen through a lens of compassion and artistry. I’m here to make that happen—one portrait at a time.

“Megan Smith is an amazing photographer, she has such an eye and is very creative when it comes to poses and settings. During both my maternity shoot and in home newborn shoot she made me feel comfortable, beautiful, kept baby safe and it was so much fun! She's the only one I trust to take flattering photos of me. I can't wait to book future sessions with her!”
